2:15 - 2:45 - Manon Pelletier - Intro to Ayurveda
Manon Pelletier is a holistic health workshop facilitator. She speaks about her personal experience with a chronic disorder that could not be treated through conventional medicine but able to find a cure with the science of Ayurveda. Manon has undertaken a profound self-healing journey that has led her to study the principles of Ayurvedic medicine and other alternative healing modalities that she now shares with others seeking a natural and holistic approach to health.
Manon will introduce you to Ayurveda and her teaching curriculum. Ayurveda, the sister science of Yoga, is the oldest holistic and preventative oriented health-care system in the world. More than 5,000 years old, Ayurvedic wisdom is rooted in India’s ancient Vedic texts. The translation of the Sanskrit word, “Ayurveda,” is “the science of life.” Ayurveda is gaining tremendous popularity in North America due to its natural approach to health. It teaches us to live in harmony with the basic laws of nature.
The first requirement for healing is a clear understanding of the three doshas. The concept of Vata-Pitta-Kapha is unique to Ayurveda and it holds the potential for revolutionizing the health care systems in Canada and the United States. During this lecture, you will learn about the three doshas, their unique properties, and your susceptibility to certain disorders. According to Ayurveda, disease is the result of living out of harmony with our natural state of balance and health is restored through conscious choices that nurture our individual make-up.
Manon is a certified Chopra Center Ayurvedic Lifestyle Instructor. Her wellness program, entitled Perfect Health, is designed by Deepak Chopra, M.D. and David Simon, M.D., co-founders of the Chopra Center for Wellbeing in Carlsbad, California. Both are internationally-acclaimed authors and leaders in the field of mind-body medicine, quantum healing, and personal transformation.
The state of our health and the health care system are prompting us toward a self-care culture. Medical experts today are recognizing the growing demands on the health care system, the need for a more holistic approach to prevention, the ‘epidemic’ of chronic disorders, and the prevalence of adverse side-effects. These deficiencies have created a pressing need to establish a complementary approach that will address the current and future challenges facing our society.
